Sticky Notes Anywhere — Privacy Policy

Overview

Sticky Notes Anywhere is a Chrome extension that lets you place sticky notes on any webpage and manage a global notepad via Chrome's Side Panel. It is built with a privacy-first approach. All of your notes, settings, and data are stored entirely on your device. We do not operate any servers, collect any data, or transmit any information externally.

There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, no analytics, no tracking, and no cookies. Your notes and browsing activity remain completely private.

Information We Collect

None.

Sticky Notes Anywhere does not collect any personal information, browsing history, analytics data, usage statistics, or any other data of any kind. The extension does not transmit your notes, settings, or any other information to external servers.

Permissions & Why We Need Them

Sticky Notes Anywhere requires the following Chrome permissions to function. Each permission is used solely for the purposes described below and nothing more.

Storage

Save your sticky notes, global notepad entries, settings (theme, default colors, note sizes), and checklist data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your browser.

Side Panel

Display the global notepad interface in Chrome's Side Panel. This provides a persistent workspace for managing all your notes, searching, and organizing without leaving your current tab.

Active Tab

Access the URL of the currently active tab so sticky notes can be associated with specific websites. This allows notes to reappear when you revisit a page. The URL is stored locally and is never shared.

Tabs

Query open tabs to display contextual information in the Side Panel (such as the current site's domain and note count) and to coordinate note injection when you navigate between pages.

Scripting

Inject content scripts that render on-page sticky notes using isolated Shadow DOM elements. This is required for notes to appear visually on webpages. The scripts only create and manage note UI elements and do not read or modify page content.

Host Permissions (All URLs)

Sticky Notes Anywhere requests access to all URLs (<all_urls>) because the core feature of the extension is placing sticky notes on any webpage you visit. Without this permission, the extension would be unable to inject the note interface onto web pages.

This permission is used exclusively to render sticky note elements on pages via content scripts. The extension does not read, collect, modify, or transmit any content from the websites you visit. It only adds its own visual note elements using an isolated Shadow DOM that is completely separated from the host page.

Data Storage

All data generated by Sticky Notes Anywhere is stored locally on your device via chrome.storage.local. This includes:

  • Global notepad entries (notes, checklists, code snippets)
  • On-page sticky notes and their positions, sizes, and content
  • Pinned note associations (by domain or exact URL)
  • Theme preferences and default color/size settings
  • Resolved and trashed notes

This is a sandboxed storage area built into Chrome that is only accessible by the extension itself. No data is ever transmitted to external servers, and uninstalling the extension removes all stored data.

Export & Import

The extension includes an Export/Import feature that allows you to back up and restore your notes. When you export, a JSON file is saved directly to your local device using a standard browser download. When you import, you select a local file from your device.

No cloud storage is involved. Export and import operations are entirely local file operations between the extension and your device's file system. No data is uploaded to or downloaded from any server.

Third-Party Services

Sticky Notes Anywhere uses the following external resources for UI rendering only:

  • Google Fonts — The extension loads the Inter font family from fonts.googleapis.com for consistent typography in the Side Panel interface. Google may log standard web request data (IP address, browser type) as part of serving font files. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles this data.

Beyond Google Fonts, the extension does not use any third-party analytics tools, tracking pixels, advertising networks, external APIs, or cloud services. No data about your notes or browsing activity is shared with any third party.

External Links

The extension's settings panel contains a link to bushe.co (the developer's website). Clicking this link is entirely user-initiated and opens the site in a new browser tab. No data is sent to this website automatically, and no automatic navigation occurs.

Cookies & Tracking

Sticky Notes Anywhere does not use cookies, local storage (outside of chrome.storage.local), session storage, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or any other tracking mechanism. There is no analytics of any kind. We have no way to know who uses the extension or how it is used.

Children's Privacy

Sticky Notes Anywhere does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since the extension collects no data from any user, there is no risk of inadvertent collection of children's data.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Since Sticky Notes Anywhere collects no data, significant changes to this policy are unlikely. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
