An adult tooth can often be saved if it’s back in place fast. While you call:

1. Find the toothPick it up by the top, the part you’d see in a smile. Don’t touch the root.
2. Rinse it only if it’s dirtyA few seconds under cool water or in milk. Don’t scrub it or wrap it in tissue.
3. Put it back if you canPush it gently into the socket and have your kid bite on a clean cloth.
4. If not, keep it in milkA cup of milk, or your kid’s own spit in a small cup. Never let it dry out.
5. Come straight inCall on the way. Getting here in the first 30 to 60 minutes gives the tooth its best chance.

A baby tooth? Don’t put it back in, because it can hurt the adult tooth growing underneath. Keep it, and call us.

Hit their head, passed out, or bleeding that won’t stop? Go to the emergency room or call 911 first.
