Three ways to straighten

All three fix crowding and gaps. Which one fits depends on your bite, your age and how many hours a day you’ll really wear aligners. You’ll hear that straight at the consult.

The first check is at 7. The last one is up to you.

A young girl with a gap-toothed smile

Age 7: a first look

The American Association of Orthodontists suggests a check by 7, while baby and adult teeth are mixed. Most kids need nothing yet. A few need an expander or a few braces now, so the rest goes easier later.

A teenager smiling with braces

Teens: most braces start here

Usually between 10 and 14, once most adult teeth are in. Wire changes fit after school, and sports and band carry on.

Adults: it still works

Teeth move at 45 the same way they do at 15, as long as the gums are healthy. Clear braces and aligners are the usual picks.

Know the monthly before anything goes on.

The cost planner takes who’s getting treated, which option and how much needs fixing, then your insurance and down payment. It gives you the monthly payment, the number of visits and the month you’re done.

Questions people ask first

Do I need a referral from my dentist?

No. Book the free consult yourself. Keep seeing your dentist for cleanings every six months the whole time.

When should my child first see an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists suggests a check by age 7. Most kids don’t need anything yet, and then we just check again in a year or so.

Do braces hurt?

Teeth are usually sore for a few days after braces go on and after some adjustments. Soft food and an over-the-counter pain reliever help most people.

Can I play sports or an instrument?

Yes. Wear a mouthguard for contact sports. Wind and brass players take a week or two to get used to braces.

What happens after braces come off?

You get retainers the same day. Most people wear them every night from then on, because teeth drift back without them.

What if we miss a payment or move?

Call us. The in-house plan has no interest, and if you move we help you transfer to an orthodontist near you.

Start with a free consult.

An hour, a scan and a written plan. No charge, and no pressure to start.
