Directed digital campaigns, website launch, social media amplification, trailer distribution, festival outreach, and key partnerships—including with the World Surf League—to increase visibility, engagement, and impact for the film.
Project Overview
Havana Libre (2021), directed by Corey McLean, is a feature documentary that follows a dedicated group of Cuban surfers, including pioneers Yaya Guerrero and Frank Gonzalez Guerra, who built homemade boards, surfed in secret, and advocated for official recognition of their sport after decades of prohibitions in Cuba.
The film explores their ingenuity, personal risks, and aspirations, particularly as surfing made its Olympic debut, blending themes of resilience, cultural change, and the pursuit of passion under challenging circumstances.
I contributed to the project exclusively in a marketing capacity and received executive producer credit for these efforts.
This experience demonstrated effective marketing for independent film, strategically amplifying a niche, impactful narrative through targeted promotion, partnerships, and digital execution to connect with global audiences.
