Website speed optimization
A slow site loses people on phones before the page even shows. Here’s how I speed one up, on the plan or as a one-off job at $100 an hour.
- 1
Measure first: PageSpeed Insights and Search Console’s Core Web Vitals report show which pages are slow on real phones, and why.
- 2
Shrink images to the size they’re shown at, in modern formats like WebP.
- 3
Remove scripts, plugins and fonts the site no longer uses, and load the rest later where it’s safe.
- 4
Turn on caching and compression at the host or CDN.
- 5
Measure again, and write down what changed.
Check a page yourself first with Google’s free PageSpeed Insights.
What $250 a month covers
Updates
Software updates for your platform, plugins and themes, tested on the site afterward so nothing breaks quietly.
Backups
Regular copies of your files and content, kept away from your hosting, so a bad update or a hack isn’t the end of the site.
Uptime checks
An automatic check watches whether your site is up, and I’m alerted when it isn’t.
Security checks
Checks for known security issues and unexpected changes, with fixes when something turns up.
Fixes
Broken links, broken forms and anything else that stops working on the site get fixed.
Monthly check-in
A short note or call each month: what was updated, what I found, and what’s worth doing next.
How it starts

Send me the address. I check what it runs on, what’s out of date, and whether anything needs fixing before the plan starts.
- 22

You add me as a user on your hosting and platform, so you keep the accounts. The first backup is taken before anything changes.
- 33
Monthly care
Updates, backups and checks every month, plus your edits when you email them.
- 44
Monthly check-in
What was done, anything I found, and how much of your edit hour was used.

Questions buyers ask
What does website maintenance include?
Software updates, backups, uptime and security checks, fixes when something breaks, a monthly check-in, and up to an hour of edits like new text, photos or prices. Bigger jobs, like a new section or a redesign, are quoted separately.
How much does website maintenance cost?
My plan is $250 a month. It includes up to 1 hour of edits; extra time is $100 an hour, and I ask before going over.
Do you maintain sites you didn’t build?
Yes. I look at the site first and tell you what it runs on, what’s out of date and whether anything needs fixing before the plan starts, and what that would cost.
Which platforms do you maintain?
WordPress, Shopify, Astro and hand-coded sites. On Shopify there are no plugin updates to run, so the plan is mostly checks, fixes and edits.
What happens if my site goes down or gets hacked?
The uptime check alerts me, I look into it, and if the site has to be put back, it’s restored from the latest backup. Then the cause gets fixed so it doesn’t happen again.
Can you make my website faster?
Yes. I measure the slow pages first, then fix what’s causing it, usually oversized images, unused scripts and missing caching. Small speed fixes fit in the monthly hour; bigger ones are billed at $100 an hour, agreed first.
