Flooring Calculator

Enter room area and coverage per box to get the boxes of flooring needed.

How much flooring to buy

Laminate, vinyl, and hardwood flooring are sold by the box, each covering a set area. This calculator turns your room size and the box coverage into the number of boxes to buy, with a waste margin built in.

A 25 square metre room with boxes covering 2.2 m² each needs about 12 boxes bare, or 13 with a 10% waste allowance for cuts and the odd damaged plank. Diagonal layouts warrant a little more.

Practical and private

It divides area by box coverage, applies your waste percentage, and rounds up to whole boxes in your browser with nothing uploaded.
