What does the image color extractor do?
It reads an uploaded image locally, samples pixels, and returns a small palette of common colors.
How does it pick the dominant colors?
The image is scaled to fit 480 × 320, every fourth pixel is sampled, colors are rounded into steps of 32 per channel, and the eight most common groups are returned as hex swatches.
Why is my exact brand color not in the palette?
Rounding groups similar shades together, so each swatch is an average bucket rather than an exact pixel value. Use an eyedropper tool when you need a precise color.
Are transparent areas counted?
No. Pixels that are more than half transparent are skipped, so PNG logos on transparent backgrounds return only their visible colors.
