Understand any IPv4 address

An IP address carries more information than four numbers — its range tells you whether it is public, private, or reserved, and its bit pattern matters for masks and routing. Enter an address and this classifies it and shows its numeric forms.

172.16.5.4, for instance, is a private Class B address (inside 172.16.0.0/12), equal to the integer 2,886,730,500 and 0xAC100504 in hex. Loopback, link-local, and multicast ranges are flagged too.
