Kelvin to RGB

Convert a color temperature in Kelvin to an approximate RGB color.

Turn a color temperature into a color

Color temperature, measured in Kelvin, describes the warmth or coolness of white light — low numbers glow orange, high numbers turn blue. This tool converts a Kelvin value into the RGB color it corresponds to.

Candlelight near 1900K comes out warm amber, neutral daylight around 5500K is close to white, and an overcast sky near 7000K leans blue. A live swatch shows the result as you slide the temperature.

Handy and private

It applies a standard black-body approximation in your browser, so the conversion is instant and nothing is uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Kelvin mean for color?

It is the temperature of a glowing black body: low values look warm and orange (candle ~1900K), high values look cool and blue (overcast ~7000K).

How accurate is it?

It uses a well-known approximation that is close for display and design purposes, though not a spectrophotometric match.

What range works?

Roughly 1000K to 12000K, covering everything from flame to blue sky.
