How the perfect number checker works

A perfect number is balanced by its factors: all positive divisors smaller than the number add to the number itself. This checker finds divisor pairs only through the square root, excludes the original value, and sums what remains. Showing the divisor list makes the classification auditable and also reveals whether a non-perfect input is deficient or abundant by its signed difference.

For the default 28, the proper divisors are 1, 2, 4, 7, and 14. Their verified sum is 28, so the equality test returns yes and the difference is zero. In contrast, 12 has proper-divisor sum 16 and would appear as abundant, while a prime has proper-divisor sum only one.

Reading perfect number checker results privately

The checker follows the positive-integer definition; one is not perfect and negative divisors are not included. Trial division is exact for safe integers but is intended for ordinary exploratory values, not huge number-theory searches. The result classifies only the supplied integer and does not attempt to generate the rare sequence of perfect numbers.
