Speed, Distance & Time Calculator

Solve speed, distance, or time from the other two.

Leave the value you want to find as 0.

The classic motion equation

Speed, distance, and time are locked together by one relationship: speed equals distance over time. Know any two and the third follows, which is all you need for travel planning and physics problems.

Enter two of the values and set the one you want to zero. With a distance of 120 and a speed of 60, the time works out to 2 hours. Keep your units consistent and the answer is exact.

Flexible and private

The calculation runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

It uses the relationship speed equals distance divided by time. Enter any two values and leave the one you want as zero.

What units should I use?

Keep them consistent — miles with miles per hour, or kilometres with kilometres per hour, and time in hours.

Can I use minutes?

Enter time in hours, using decimals for parts of an hour. Half an hour is 0.5.
