How to make a booking page in Google Calendar
Google Calendar can make a Calendly-style booking page for free, with a feature called appointment schedules. Here’s how to set one up, which settings to change, how to share it, and what the free version can’t do.
Before you start
You need a personal Google Account or an eligible Google Workspace account, and a computer. Google doesn’t let you create an appointment schedule in the Calendar app for Android, iPhone or iPad. A personal account gets one booking page for free; some Workspace plans, such as Essentials and Frontline, can’t make them at all.
Step 1: Create the appointment schedule
- Open Google Calendar on a computer.
- At the top left, click Create, then Appointment schedule.
- Add a title. It appears on the booking page and on your calendar next to each booking.
- Choose the appointment duration, such as 30 minutes, or pick Custom.
- Set your general availability: the days and hours people can book, and your time zone. “Copy time to all” repeats one day’s hours across the week.
- Adjust the settings below if you need to, then click Next.
The settings worth changing
- Scheduling window: how far ahead people can book, and the shortest notice you’ll accept. The default notice is 4 hours, which is why a brand-new page can show no times left today.
- Adjusted availability: different hours on specific dates, like holidays.
- Booked appointment settings: buffer time between appointments, a maximum number of bookings per day, and whether guests can invite other people.
- Calendars: which calendar the bookings go on. The booking page already hides times when that calendar shows you as busy; checking your other calendars as well needs a paid Google plan.
Step 2: Set up the booking page
- Photo and name: these come from your Google Account. Change them there if you don’t want your personal photo on a public page.
- Location and conferencing: Google Meet, in person, a phone call, or none. To use Zoom or another service, choose “None / to be specified later” and add your link to each booking.
- Description: what the appointment is for. It shows on the booking page, in confirmation emails and in the calendar event.
- Booking form: first name, last name and email address are required. Add your own questions with “Add an item”.
- Confirmations and reminders: the confirmation email, plus up to 5 automatic reminders on paid plans. You can’t edit the reminder text.
Click Save. The page is live, and it’s always public: anyone with the link can see it, along with your profile photo and account name.
Step 3: Share it or add it to your website
Under Booking pages on the left side of Google Calendar, hover over your page and click Copy link. Put that link in your email signature, your social profiles or a message.
To put it on your website, hover over the booking page and click Options, then Sharing options, then Website embed. Choose one:
- Button with popup: a button with your own text and color that opens the booking page over your site
- Inline booking page: the whole booking page inside your page, at a width and height you can change in the code
Click Copy code and paste it into your site’s HTML. Most site builders have an HTML or embed block for this.
What’s free and what needs a paid plan
A personal Google Account (or Workspace Business Starter) gets one booking page with the settings above. Google’s paid plans add:
- Google One Premium, Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra: more than one appointment schedule, automatic email reminders, and checking availability across several calendars
- Workspace Individual: all of that, plus payments through Stripe and email verification to stop spam bookings
- Business Standard and higher Workspace plans: also schedules on secondary calendars and up to 20 co-hosts
When you need more than Google’s booking page
Google’s free page is enough for one kind of appointment. It gets awkward once you want several meeting types, reminders, payments or a page for your team without paying for a Google plan. A dedicated scheduler covers that. Cal.com (affiliate link) is free for one person with as many event types and connected calendars as you want, email and text notifications, and payments through Stripe or PayPal. It works with Google Calendar too. My list of free Calendly alternatives compares it with four other options, including this one.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Google Calendar booking page free?
Yes. A personal Google Account can create one appointment schedule with a booking page at no cost. More booking pages, reminder emails and payments need a paid Google One, Google AI or Google Workspace plan.
Why does my booking page show no available times?
Most often it’s the default 4-hour minimum notice, which hides the rest of today. Also check your general availability, the scheduling window, and whether your calendar shows you as busy at those times.
Do people need a Google account to book?
No. Anyone with the link can book by filling in the form with their name and email. On eligible paid plans you can require email verification for people who aren’t signed in to Google.
Can I create an appointment schedule on my phone?
No. Google only lets you create them in Google Calendar on a computer, not in the Android, iPhone or iPad app.
How do I add a Google Calendar booking button to my website?
Hover over the booking page in Google Calendar, click Options, Sharing options, then Website embed. Choose Button with popup, set the text and color, copy the code and paste it into your site’s HTML.
