Savings Goal Calculator
Find the monthly amount to hit a savings goal.
Reach your goal on schedule
Working backward from a target and a deadline gives the monthly amount to set aside. To save $6,000 in a year, that is $500 a month, adjusted down if the balance earns interest.
Adding even a modest expected return lowers the monthly amount needed, and stretching the deadline a few months can make an out-of-reach goal comfortable.
A plan, not a promise
Irregular income may need larger buffer months. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Your goal figures stay in the browser and are never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
How is the monthly amount calculated?
(Goal − current savings) ÷ months. $20,000 with $3,500 saved over 24 months needs $687.50 a month, or about $158.65 a week.
Does it include interest?
No. It assumes the money earns nothing, which keeps the target conservative. A high-yield savings account would let you reach the goal slightly sooner.
How is the weekly figure worked out?
The monthly amount × 12 ÷ 52, so it adds up to the same yearly total rather than assuming four weeks in every month.
