Tiling a floor or wall means buying enough tiles to cover the area with allowance for cuts and mistakes. This calculator turns the area and tile size into a tile count and, if you like, a box count.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many tiles do I need?
The area divided by the area of one tile, rounded up, plus a waste allowance for cuts and breakage — usually 10%.
Why add waste?
Edge cuts, corners, and the occasional cracked tile mean you always use more than the bare coverage. 10% is a safe default; add more for diagonal layouts.
Does it count boxes?
If you enter tiles per box, it converts the tile count into whole boxes so you know how many to buy.
