The column of videos next to YouTube's player is picked to keep you watching, not to give a balanced view. Ultimate Adblocker can remove it: turn on "Hide recommended videos" in its YouTube settings. "Hide end-screen suggestions" and "Hide Home page videos" remove the other places recommendations appear. This changes what you see, not how YouTube ranks things, so search results are still in YouTube's order. Pausing watch history in your Google account limits what recommendations are based on.
