Calories Burned Calculator

Estimate calories burned from activity intensity, weight, and time.

Calories from any activity

Every activity has a MET value that describes its intensity, and combining that with your weight and time gives a solid calorie estimate. It is the same method fitness trackers use under the hood.

Running at 9.8 METs for 30 minutes burns roughly 360 calories for a 70 kg person. Pick an activity, enter your weight and duration, and the tool does the arithmetic — heavier bodies and longer sessions burn more.

Handy and private

It applies the standard MET formula in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a MET?

A metabolic equivalent — a measure of an activity’s intensity relative to sitting still. Running is about 9.8 METs; walking briskly is around 3.5.

What is the formula?

Calories per minute equal MET times 3.5 times your weight in kilograms, divided by 200. Multiply by minutes for the total.

How accurate is it?

MET values are population averages, so treat the result as an estimate. Fitness, terrain, and effort all shift the real number.
