Best Lightweight Tab Suspender for Manifest V3
Patrick Bushe · May 1, 2026
The Great Suspender wasn't broken by Manifest V3: Google removed it in 2021 after a new owner added malware. Tab Manager is a small Manifest V3 extension that sleeps tabs with Chrome's built-in tab discarding, the same mechanism Memory Saver uses, rather than swapping pages for a placeholder. It needs no access to the sites you visit, only to your tab list, its own storage and a timer. The Marvellous Suspender, an open-source fork of The Great Suspender, is another Manifest V3 option with more settings.
