Dark Mode Extension That Works on Local Files | Bushe.co

Most browser dark themes only work on active webpages, leaving local text and PDF files blindingly white. To fix this, you must explicitly configure your browser settings.
The easiest local file dark mode solution is to install Modern Dark Mode, then navigate to your chrome://extensions page. Click on "Details" for the extension, and toggle on "Allow access to file URLs." Once enabled, any local plain text document, JSON file, or PDF you drag-and-drop into Chrome will be securely inverted to a comfortable dark slate without the extension tracking or reading your sensitive local data.
