Dark Mode for Online Textbooks in Google Chrome

Many online textbook platforms have no dark mode of their own.
Most textbook readers are web pages, so Modern Dark Mode can darken them: backgrounds turn dark gray and text light gray, while photos, diagrams and videos are flipped back to their normal colors. Some readers draw pages on a canvas or inside an embedded frame, and Modern Dark Mode leaves those in their original colors, so the page itself may stay white. Textbooks delivered as PDFs in Chrome's viewer aren't affected either. Check whether your platform has its own night or dark reading mode; some do.
