Dark mode for research but normal colors for a design tool is a common setup.
Modern Dark Mode does this per site rather than per tab. It's on for every site by default; on a site you want light, open the popup and tick "Exclude this site". That site then always opens in its normal colors, in any tab, while everything else stays dark. To turn dark mode off everywhere at once, press Alt+Shift+D.
