How to Disable Generative AI on Google Permanently

Leaving Search Labs doesn't remove AI Overviews: they're part of Google Search, and Google doesn't let you turn them off. Search Cleaner hides them on google.com search pages for as long as it's installed, but "permanently" has limits: if Google changes how the box is labelled, it can show again until the extension is updated. Google's own "Web" filter, under the search box or in its More menu, also shows plain links with no AI Overview.
