How to Disable YouTube Shorts Completely on Desktop

YouTube has no setting to turn Shorts off. On a computer, Ultimate Adblocker's "Hide Shorts" switch removes Shorts shelves and Shorts videos from the Home page, your subscriptions and search, removes the Shorts entry from the menu and the Shorts tab from channel pages, and opens any Shorts link in the normal player. It works in Chrome; when YouTube redesigns a page, a shelf can come back until the next update.
