YouTube now puts Shorts on the Home page, in search results, in your subscriptions and in the side menu. Ultimate Adblocker has a "Hide Shorts" switch in its YouTube settings that removes them from all of those places, and if you open a Shorts link anyway, it plays in the normal video player instead of the swipe-through Shorts player. It's off by default; turn it on once and it stays on. It works in Chrome on a computer, not in the YouTube app, and when YouTube changes its layout a Shorts shelf can reappear until the next update.
