How to Do Client Presentations Directly From Your Browser

Many client presentations now happen in a browser: slides in Google Slides, a live website demo, a dashboard, all shared over a video call. A little preparation avoids the usual problems, such as personal tabs on screen, pop-up notifications and frozen demos.
Use a clean browser profile
Create a separate Chrome profile just for presenting. It has its own bookmarks, history and signed-in accounts, so autocomplete won't suggest personal sites, and your bookmarks bar stays tidy. Sign in only to what the presentation needs.
Prepare the tabs in order
- Open everything you'll show before the call, in the order you'll show it.
- Put them in a named tab group or a separate window.
- Sign in to any demo accounts in advance, and close everything else.
- Set each page's zoom so text is readable on a shared screen; 110% to 125% often works.
Share a tab, not your whole screen
Google Meet, Zoom and Teams let you share a single tab or window. Sharing one Chrome tab hides everything else, and Chrome can include the tab's audio if you're showing a video. Switch shared tabs from the bar Chrome shows at the top, rather than starting a new share.
Silence notifications
- Turn on Do Not Disturb or Focus on your computer.
- Quit or mute chat and email apps.
- Block site notifications for the presenting profile.
Presenting slides
In Google Slides, use Slideshow with presenter view in a separate window, so you can see notes while the client sees only slides. Practise switching between slides and a live demo once before the call.
Respect the client's time
Client meetings carry real cost on both sides. Keep to the agreed time, and send detailed material in writing afterwards rather than walking through every page. Meeting Cost Calculator shows what a meeting costs as it runs, a useful reminder when a call starts to drift.
Have a backup
- Download a PDF of your slides in case the connection fails.
- Take screenshots of key demo steps, in case a live site misbehaves.
- Keep a phone hotspot ready.
Afterwards
Send a short recap with decisions, next steps and links within a day. See turning meeting notes into action and a hands-free browsing setup.
