How to Monitor Multiple Websites for Price Drops Automatically

Waiting for a price to drop on something you want? Checking several stores every day gets old quickly. These methods watch prices for you and tell you when they fall.

1. Chrome's price tracking

On many product pages, Chrome offers a Track price option in the address bar or side panel. Tracked items are saved, and Chrome can notify or email you when the price drops. It uses Google Shopping data, so it works on many, but not all, stores.

2. Google Shopping

On Google Shopping, open a product and turn on price tracking. Google compares prices across stores and shows whether the current price is low, typical or high for that product.

3. Store alerts and wish lists

Many retailers send alerts for items in your wish list or cart. Signing up for a store's emails can also bring discount codes, though it fills your inbox.

4. Price history for Amazon

Keepa and CamelCamelCamel show an Amazon product's price history and send alerts when it falls below a price you set. Price history reveals fake sales, where a "discount" is really the normal price.

5. Page change monitors

For sites none of the above cover, page monitoring services such as Distill.io and Visualping watch part of a page, like the price, and alert you when it changes. Free plans usually limit how many pages and how often they check.

6. A quick daily check

If you'd rather look yourself, put all the product pages in one bookmark folder. AutoBrowser opens them one after another in a single tab, staying on each for the time you choose, so you can scan every price in a minute. It doesn't detect changes or send alerts, so use it alongside the tools above. For stock that sells out fast, see auto-refreshing for inventory drops.

Tips for buying at the right price

  • Check the history before trusting a "sale" label.
  • Include shipping and tax when comparing stores.
  • Know the seasons: many products drop during big sales events.
  • Ask about price adjustments: some stores refund the difference if the price falls soon after you buy.

Watch your privacy

Price tracking extensions and shopping assistants often need to read every page you visit. Install few, from trusted developers, and check their permissions. See auto-refresh extensions compared.
