Optometry & Eye Care Websites

Optometry website design for eye care practices

Websites for optometrists, eye care practices and optical shops. Patients come to an optometry site with a short list: book an eye exam, check that you take their vision plan, look at frames, or get help with something urgent like a red, painful eye. I design optometry sites that put each of those one or two taps from the home page, and that work as well for a parent booking three kids as for a contact lens wearer reordering. Below: what an optometry site costs, and the questions patients want answered before booking.

Quick answer

An optometry website starts near $17.77 a month if you assemble it yourself on Wix or Squarespace and climbs to $5,000 and up for a custom eye care site. What fills the exam schedule, though, is three things: booking online, the vision plans you accept, and a plain answer for someone with a red, painful eye.

Seven things patients check on an eye care site

  1. Do you take my vision plan? Plans listed by name, plus whether medical insurance covers eye problems.
  2. Can I book tonight? Open exam times without waiting for office hours.
  3. Do you see kids? The ages you see and what a child’s exam involves.
  4. Do you fit contacts? Whether a fitting is separate from the exam, and what it includes.
  5. What frames do you carry? Brands and a few photos of the optical.
  6. My eye hurts. Can you see me today? Same-day urgent visits, and when to go to an emergency room instead.
  7. Where do I park? Address, parking and step-free access.

Vision plan or medical insurance: say it plainly

Many patients don’t know that a routine exam often goes through a vision plan, while an eye infection or injury is usually billed to medical insurance. A short page explaining the difference saves your front desk the same conversation every day. Keep it general, name the plans you accept, and ask patients to check their own coverage.

Try a clinic booking flow

Kinfield, a family clinic I invented, has a booking flow, care pages with costs and a directory of who’s taking new patients: what an optometry practice needs, with eye exams in place of checkups. See all 26

Optional add-on

Add an AI assistant to your new site

A better site brings in more inquiries. An AI add-on makes sure none of them wait. I build it alongside your site, so it launches with everything else.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

What should an optometry website include?

Online exam booking, the vision and medical plans you take, your doctors, the services you offer, your frame brands, hours and parking, and what to do about an urgent eye problem. Parents also look for whether you see children.

How much does an optometry website cost?

A do-it-yourself Wix site is $17.77 to $159.77 a month and a Squarespace one $19 to $99, both on yearly billing. Upwork designers commonly ask $15 to $30 an hour. Custom eye care sites from me start at $5,000 for one fixed price.

Should we list the vision plans we accept?

Yes. It’s one of the questions your front desk answers most. List each plan, say whether you bill medical insurance for eye problems, and tell patients what to bring.

Can patients book eye exams online?

Yes. Most practice software offers online scheduling, and the site can embed it or link to it; a request form your staff confirm also works.

Should an optometry site sell glasses or contacts online?

A contact lens reorder form is usually enough; full online ordering needs prescription checks and stock, which your current systems may already handle. Many patients still want to try frames on, so the site’s job is to show the brands and invite them in.

Do you only work with Los Angeles optometrists?

No. Eye care practices in any state can work with me; I’m in Los Angeles, and we work over email with a shared preview.
