Family Law & Divorce Lawyer Websites

Family law website design for divorce and custody lawyers

Websites for family law firms and solo divorce lawyers. People searching for a family lawyer are often having the worst month of their year. They read late at night on a phone, sometimes one their spouse can see, and they want to know three things: what happens next, what it will cost, and whether talking to you stays private. I design family law sites that answer those questions in a calm voice and make the first step easy and discreet. Below: what a family law site costs, what it needs that other law firm sites don’t, and how SEO fits in.

Quick answer

A family law website needs more than a generic law firm template: a page for each kind of case, the process in plain words, how you charge, a private intake form and a quick-exit button. A builder site runs $17.77 to $159.77 a month if you write it yourself; a custom family law site from me starts at $5,000, with the SEO basics in place at launch.

The guide

What a family law site needs that other law sites don’t

  • A quick-exit button. One tap to a neutral page, for anyone who might be watched.
  • The timeline, honestly. In California, a divorce can’t be final until at least six months after the other spouse is served (Family Code section 2339). Say so up front.
  • Custody first. Parents often worry about their kids before anything else; give custody and visitation their own clear pages.
  • Mediation as an option. Many people hope to avoid court; show when mediation or an uncontested divorce fits.
  • A calm tone. No “aggressive” or “ruthless” promises; clients want steady, and California’s rule 7.1 bars misleading claims anyway.
  • Fees in words. Retainers confuse people; explain how one works and what the first meeting costs.

Family law SEO, in plain words

SEO is what gets your firm in front of someone who types “divorce lawyer near me” or “how to get custody” into Google. For a family law firm, most of it comes down to three things:

  1. A page for each search. Divorce, custody, support and mediation each get a page, and so does each city you serve.
  2. A site Google can read. Clear titles, headings, schema, a sitemap and fast pages. I set these up and check them before launch.
  3. Your Google Business Profile. Reviews, hours and photos there feed the map results for local searches.

The first two come with every site I build. Ongoing work after launch, like new pages each month, is quoted separately. See website design and SEO.

Work

A law firm site you can click through

Ashby & Rourke is an injury firm I made up. Swap the crash checklist for a custody one and its intake carries straight over to family law: a few questions on the home page that flow into a full case review a lawyer reads. See all 26

Ashby & Rourke

  • A three-question case starter on the home page that carries into the full form
  • A four-step case review: what happened, when and where, a short description, how to reach you
  • Eight practice-area pages, each with its own questions
  • A case timeline that shows each step from start to finish

Ashby & Rourke is a made-up business. Its people, prices, results and reviews are samples.

What's included

Every project includes

Practice area pages

One page per case type, written for the person going through it, not for other lawyers.

Process timelines

What happens from filing to judgment, step by step, with the waiting periods your state sets.

Confidential intake

A short, private form that asks only what you need for a conflict check and a first conversation.

Attorney profiles

Each lawyer’s background, bar admissions and the kinds of cases they take.

Spanish pages

Key pages in Spanish when your clients need them.

Fast and readable

Large type and quick pages for people reading at 2 a.m. on a phone.

Optional add-on

Add an AI assistant to your new site

A better site brings in more inquiries. An AI add-on makes sure none of them wait. I build it alongside your site, so it launches with everything else.

Family law website pricing

$5,000+

Family law sites start at $5,000. Lots of practice area and city pages, Spanish pages or a link into case management software raise it; the price is fixed in writing before I begin.

Every project includes discovery, design iterations, development, launch, and 30 days of post-launch support. Fixed scope, no surprise billing.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

What should a family law website include?

A page for each kind of case you take, a plain explanation of the process and timeline, how you charge, attorney profiles, reviews where your bar rules allow them, a confidential intake form, and a quick-exit button for people reading on a shared device.

How much does a family law website cost?

On a builder, plans run $17.77 to $159.77 a month (Wix) or $19 to $99 (Squarespace), paid annually. A custom family law site from me starts at $5,000 as a single fixed price.

What is family law SEO?

Work that helps your firm show up when people near you search for things like “divorce lawyer” or “child custody attorney.” It starts with the site itself: a page per case type and city, clear titles and headings, schema and fast pages. Every site I build launches with that in place; ongoing SEO, like new pages each month, is quoted separately.

What is a quick-exit button?

A button that instantly leaves your site for a neutral page, like a weather site, for someone who may be watched by a partner. It’s common on domestic violence resources and worth having on any family law site.

Do you build sites for other kinds of law firms?

Yes. Injury, criminal, business and other practices have their own page: law firm website design.

Do you only work with California family lawyers?

No. I’m based in Los Angeles and work with firms anywhere in the US, by email and a shared preview link. Each state has its own advertising rules for lawyers, and the copy follows yours.
