Greenbar CPAs is a made-up brand. I designed and built it to show what a accounting firm site can look like; the people, prices, results and reviews on it are samples.

The brief

Greenbar CPAs is a made-up firm in Burbank that does bookkeeping, business taxes and payroll for small businesses: shops, restaurants, studios and trades.

Owners shopping for an accountant worry about two things: what it will cost, and whether they’ll get their numbers in time to use them. Most firm sites answer neither and ask you to call.

The idea

Green-bar computer paper

The striped tractor-feed printout is what accounting looked like for decades. Every printout on the site has sprocket holes down both edges, a perforation at the top and pale green bands behind the rows, with figures in a mono face. Ledger green and near-black on white; IBM Plex Sans with IBM Plex Mono.

Design decisions

Show the fee, line by line

The fee builder prints every line: bookkeeping by transactions, owner payroll for S corps, the yearly returns spread over twelve months, payroll per person. The total is what you’d pay.

A schedule, not a promise

“The month, line by line” shows who does what and when: you send receipts by the 5th, the books close by the 10th, the review call is by the 15th.

A tool owners need four times a year

The estimated tax calculator uses the IRS safe-harbor rule (100% of last year’s tax, 110% over $150,000), shows the four 2026 due dates and counts down to the next one.
